It’s not the transmission. It’s the clutch. It’s not quite fully disengaging. It can idle in gear, but the tell was a lurch on startup in gear. If this was a Miata I’d have the slave cylinder swapped out in the time it takes to make this post. However GM in their infinite wisdom has the cruze’s slave inside the transmission, so it'll have to be dropped. Yay clutch job. *grumble*

I remember in the ‘80s the Ranger’s slave cylinder was this, um, cylindrical thing which encircled the input shaft. Trans drop required to change those too. I don’t remember if the throwout bearing was integrated with them.

That's what it looks like here. I'm going to take it to the dealership to see if they can work anything. It's been over 5 years since original sale, but just maybe... Worth a chance.

Same with the 4th gen GTO. I have been putting mine off cause I want to do a clutch at the same time, but I don’t want to spend that much atm.

The price is the easy part. It’s just a lot of labor in a driveway. Hopefully GM’s corporate overlords have mercy.

I should buy an engine hoist.
